Inhalt

First published in the key article ‘The Big Idea: ‘Creating Shared Value’ ’ by KRAMER and PORTER, the Concept of Creating Shared Value (CSV) describes a new approach in the relation between companies and societal needs. The implementation of this Concept in Developing Countries appears to be particular promising. This Thesis is giving exact definitions of relevant terms as ‘Developing Country’, CSV and the related Concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Hereby, CSV itself is getting initially and critically discussed. Following is the fundamental methodical instrument, the Case Studies. Three well-chosen CSV-projects are analysed and their impact on the affected Developing Countries is displayed. Eventually, the key advantages of CSV in this particular field are highlighted, but also relevant questions concerning the competitiveness of CSV are raised.

Textprobe: Chapter 3, Case Studies - CSV in practice: In this part of the thesis three CSV-projects will be presented. The presentation of the projects will consist of an introduction of the involved company, a brief display of the fundamentals of the project and an analysis of the impact on the company and involved developing countries. Prior to the presentation of the projects selection criteria will be determined and basics regarding analysis and measurement discussed. 3.1, Selection Criteria: Before the different Case Studies can be presented, it is necessary to determine the project selection criteria. The first research for CSV-projects lead to the following significant selection criteria, which will be displayed in detail afterwards: only projects in developing countries (UN classification), varying projects, diversity of companies, varying areas of social engagement, sufficient information, if possible various sources. Due to the topic of this thesis it will be necessary to analyse only projects in developing countries. The differentiation of the UN displayed in Chapter ?2.1. will be applied. The focus will be laid on different projects, companies and areas of social engagement. Therefore the information the thesis is based on will be more profound, its conclusions more reliable and the presentation of an extended picture possible. CSV-projects often involve several companies. It will be important to analyse different projects and not the contribution of different companies to one project. Concerning the areas of social engagements, it has to be recognised that the main societal needs in developing and LD-Countries differ from needs in developed countries. As can be deduced from the UN LDC status determining indices, the main areas developing countries coping with are health, education, poverty and weakness of economic structure. Although some of these issues can be found in developed countries it is incontrovertible that these problems are more fundamental in developing countries. For this thesis it will important to gather sufficient information and if possible varying sources. During research two main problems are revealed. Due to just recent introduction of the concept of CSV in the early 2011, CSV-projects are often not labelled. Two different groups of CSV-projects can be found. There are projects established before the introduction of CSV, which are therefore often not labelled, and projects established after the introduction. The second problem concerns the quality of information. Data about CSV-projects is often published by companies themselves or associated institutes or organisations.
